Julie VanVeldhuizen, BS, CCLS, ITFS-P
Developmental Therapist
Julie graduated from Iowa State University with a BS in Child, Adult, and Family Services. Her educational background has an emphasis in child development, psychology, and family dynamics. Since completing her degree, she has worked as a Child Life Specialist in hospitals and as a Developmental Therapist in the community. Julie’s work in Intensive Care Nursery's, providing support to families, education for siblings, and developmental interventions for infants, allow her to provide individualized and family centered care plans for helping premature infants transition home and continue to grow and develop. Her unique training as a Certified Child Life Specialist brings a distinct ability to ease the anxieties of children and families and help them cope with new situations, by preparing them and coaching them through medical procedures, examinations, and other life changing events, as well as providing normalization, exploration, and a sense of mastery through play. Julie enjoys helping all children learn developmental skills though play in their natural environment, both in one on one and in group settings.
